The deadline for the 2026 Congressional Art Competition is Friday, April 24, 2026 at 5:00pm.

Before submitting, review the guidelines carefully to ensure your artwork meets eligibility and submission requirements.

High school students in North Carolina's 14th Congressional District are invited to participate in the Artistic Discovery Contest, a nationwide competition that showcases young artists' talents. he winning piece will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol alongside artwork from districts across the country and featured on House.gov's Congressional Art Competition page. Once the winner is selected, the winning art piece will be shipped to Washington, D.C., in its original medium.

The following is a summary of the Congressional Art Competition rules:

● All artwork must be framed according to the appropriate framing guidelines, listed below. 

● Artwork must be two-dimensional. 

● Artwork can be no larger than 26 inches high, 26 inches wide, 4 inches deep, and 15 pounds, including the frame. 

● Accepted mediums for the two-dimensional artwork are as follows: 

         ○ Paintings: oil, acrylics, watercolor, etc. 

         ○ Drawings: colored pencil, pencil, ink, marker, pastels, charcoal (Charcoal and pastel drawings must be fixed.) 

         ○ Prints: lithographs, silk screen, block prints 

         ○ Mixed Media: use of more than two mediums such as pencil, ink, watercolor, etc. 

         ○ Collages (must be two-dimensional) 

         ○ Computer-generated art 

         ○ Photographs

All entries must be original in concept, design, and execution and may not violate any U.S. copyright laws. Any entry that has been copied from an existing photo or image (including a painting, graphic, or advertisement) that was created by someone other than the student is a violation of the competition rules and will not be accepted. 

For North Carolina's 14th Congressional District, only entries with subjects related to North Carolina will be considered.**

To submit your artwork:
  1. Complete the 2026 Release Form (signed by the student, parent/guardian, and art teacher).
  2. Send a high-quality digital scan or photograph of your artwork along with the release form to NC14ArtCompetition@mail.house.gov
     
    ***Note: Incomplete submissions will not be considered.
