Congressman Tim Moore Votes to Strengthen America's Military Through FY27 National Defense Authorization Act

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, the U.S. House of Representatives passed the Fiscal Year 2027 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), legislation that ensures America's military readiness and sets defense policy for the coming year. The FY27 NDAA authorizes funds to revitalize our defense industrial base, accelerate next generation technologies, and build on quality-of-life improvements for our service members and their families. 

Included in the bill is Congressman Tim Moore's (NC-14) amendment establishing the Army Quantum Readiness and Advanced Computing Initiative to better prepare the Army for the technology race.

"Our service members face threats unlike any in a generation. We must ensure America remains the strongest and most capable fighting force in the world," said Congressman Moore. "The National Defense Authorization Act strengthens American deterrence by restoring and modernizing depleted stockpile and providing our service members with a well-deserved pay raise."

Specifically, this legislation will:

• Support a 5 to 7 percent pay raise for all service members while improving housing, education, and childcare for military families.

• Strengthen military readiness by rebuilding critical weapons stockpiles and expanding the nation's defense industrial base.

• Accelerate the development and deployment of next generation technologies, including quantum computing, hypersonics, autonomous systems, and artificial intelligence.

• Strengthen America's deterrence against adversaries such as China, Russia, Iran, and North Korea by investing in the forces and capabilities needed to maintain a strong U.S. military.

• Improve efficiency at the Department of War by streamlining operations, reducing wasteful spending, and strengthening financial accountability.
