Congressman Tim Moore Votes to Pass the Secure America Act
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Congressman Tim Moore (NC-14) voted to pass the Secure America Act, helping deliver on Republicans' commitment to secure the border and enforce the nation's immigration laws. The legislation provides nearly $70 billion in funding for U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) through Fiscal Year 2029.
“The American people elected President Trump with a clear mandate to secure the border and restore the rule of law,” said Congressman Moore. “Under Republican leadership, we have seen what strong border enforcement can accomplish. The Secure America Act helps lock in that progress by providing long term funding for CBP and ICE through the remainder of President Trump's term. This gives our Border Patrol agents and ICE officers the resources needed to do their jobs and keep our communities safe.”
Specifically, the Secure America Act:
- Provides $22 billion for U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and $38 billion for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), ensuring border security and immigration enforcement operations can continue through Fiscal Year 2029.
- Supports the hiring, retention, and operational needs of the personnel responsible for securing the border and enforcing the nation's immigration laws.
- Invests in border security technology and infrastructure to strengthen enforcement efforts and improve operational effectiveness.
- Expands support for immigration enforcement activities, including the investigation, detention, transportation, and removal of individuals who are in the country unlawfully.
- Strengthens partnerships between federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies, including support for 287(g) agreements that assist with immigration enforcement efforts.
- Provides the Department of Homeland Security with the resources needed to carry out border security and immigration enforcement missions.
The Secure America Act now heads to President Trump's desk for his signature.
