Congressman Tim Moore Named to President Trump’s FEMA Task Force; Clarifies OMB Directive Does Not Affect FEMA Assistance

WASHINGTON, D.C. — On January 24th, U.S. President Donald J. Trump named Congressman Tim Moore (NC-14) to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Task Force while visiting Western North Carolina.
“After leading unprecedented efforts to help our region recover from Hurricane Helene as Speaker of the North Carolina House, I’m deeply honored to be named to President Trump’s newest task force to newest task force to assess and improve FEMA,” said Congressman Moore. “Our mission is clear: we must ensure that FEMA is prepared to respond swiftly and impartially to any disaster, prioritize American families, and focus on restoring the agency’s core mission. I look forward to working with my fellow task force members to provide solutions that promote efficiency, transparency, and accountability within FEMA while ensuring that taxpayer dollars go directly to helping families recover and rebuild.”
In responding to the White House Office of Management and Budget’s notice directing agencies to temporarily pause certain programs to align with new Executive Orders, Congressman Moore confirmed that the directive will not impact FEMA.
“The White House has assured me that disaster relief and direct assistance to families through FEMA will continue uninterrupted,” Moore stated. “President Trump’s leadership is focused on ensuring resources are prioritized for the Americans who need them most, and not for the previous administration’s woke and wasteful policies that diverted funds away from their intended purpose.”
During today’s White House Press Briefing, Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt further clarified, “this is not a blanket pause on federal assistance and grant programs from the Trump Administration.”
“…Social Security benefits, Medicare benefits, food stamps, welfare benefits, assistance that is going directly to individuals will not be impacted by this pause, and I want to make that very clear to any Americans who are watching at home, who may be a little bit confused about some of the media reporting on this administration, if you are receiving individual assistance from the federal government, you will still continue to receive that,” Leavitt continued.
