Congressman Tim Moore Introduces Resolution Honoring Shelby as Permanent Home of American Legion World Series, Recognizing 100 Years

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Yesterday, Congressman Tim Moore (NC-14) introduced H.Res. 1482, the American Legion World Series Resolution, which recognizes 100 years of American Legion Baseball and the American Legion World Series and honors Shelby, North Carolina for serving as the permanent home of the American Legion World Series.

“Since 2011, the American Legion World Series has been a welcomed tradition in Shelby and across Cleveland County,” said Congressman Tim Moore. “As we celebrate 100 years of American Legion Baseball, this milestone reminds us of the lasting impact this event has both on and off the field. It teaches young athletes the value of hard work, sportsmanship, and patriotism. I’m grateful to the volunteers, coaches, and families who make this event such a source of pride for our community and continue to honor the legacy of our veterans.”

The 2026 American Legion World Series, held August 13 through August 18, 2026 at Veterans Field in Shelby, marks the 100th anniversary of the first American Legion World Series, a milestone reflecting a century of service to American communities and to the young athletes who have worn the American Legion uniform.
