Congressman Tim Moore Helped to Secure Over $378,000 in Federal Funding for the City of Belmont

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, Congressman Tim Moore (NC-14) announced the City of Belmont has been awarded $378,240.04 for the Belmont Fire Department through the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA)'s Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) Grant Program.

“I’m proud to have helped secure this grant for the Belmont Fire Department to better support the men and women who keep our community safe,” said Congressman Moore. “Belmont has grown significantly over the past decade, increasing the demand for emergency services. This funding will allow the department to hire additional firefighters, which will strengthen response capabilities and help keep Belmont residents safe.”

“On behalf of Belmont Mayor Joe Jordan and Belmont City Council, we sincerely thank Congressman Tim Moore for supporting the Belmont Fire Department’s SAFER grant application,” said Alex Hardee, Deputy Fire Chief of the Belmont Fire Department. “This grant will provide three operational positions that are paramount to Belmont’s public safety initiatives.”

Over the past three years, the Belmont Fire Department has experienced a roughly 70% increase in call volume. Despite these increasing demands, the department continues to operate with limited staffing. Specifically, this grant will allow the department to hire three additional firefighters, enabling the staffing of a four-person engine company.

This announcement follows a letter of support from Congressman Moore to FEMA recommending the City of Belmont for the SAFER Grant.
