Congressman Tim Moore Delivers Floor Speech Honoring the Life of Gaston County Paramedic Mary Jolly
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Congressman Tim Moore (NC-14) delivered a floor speech to honor the life and heroism of Gaston County Paramedic Mary Jolly, who passed away after being struck by a car as she was rendering aid on the side of I-95 in Florida.
Remarks as prepared for delivery:
Mr. Speaker, I rise today to honor the life and heroism of Paramedic Mary Jolly of Gaston County, North Carolina, who tragically passed away at just 27 years old.
On November 15th, Mary stopped along I-95 in Florida to help a driver who had been struck by a vehicle. While rendering aid, she was hit by another car and critically injured. Mary died exactly as she lived—serving others.
Since joining Gaston County EMS in 2021, Mary distinguished herself as a highly skilled, deeply compassionate paramedic and a member of the swift water rescue team. She was named B-Shift Outstanding Paramedic in 2023, a reflection of her dedication and professionalism.
Her colleagues describe her as courageous and kind-hearted to every patient she encountered. Her loss is felt across Gaston County.
We extend our deepest condolences and our prayers to her family, her friends, and her fellow first responders.
