Congressman Tim Moore Announces More Than $17 Million in FEMA Funding for Rutherford and Mecklenburg Counties

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, Congressman Tim Moore (NC-14) announced $17,870,774.13 in federal funding from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to support the acquisition of 42 properties in Rutherford and Mecklenburg Counties impacted by Hurricane Helene.

“Recovery from Hurricane Helene is about rebuilding while also making our communities safer for the future,” said Congressman Moore. "This funding will help Rutherford and Mecklenburg Counties address properties at risk of future flooding and landslides and better protect against future storms. I appreciate President Trump, Secretary Mullin, and the folks at FEMA for continuing to prioritize Western North Carolina's recovery.”

$10,638,923.44 will go to Rutherford County to fund the acquisition and demolition of 23 properties impacted by Hurricane Helene. The acquired properties will be returned to green space and deed restricted to reduce the risk of future damage from flooding and landslides. This funding is authorized under Section 404 of the Robert T. Stafford Act.

$400,000 will go to Rutherford County to support management costs associated with the acquisition and demolition of 23 properties impacted by Hurricane Helene. This funding is authorized under Section 324 of the Robert T. Stafford Act.

$6,651,850.69 will go to Mecklenburg County to fund the acquisition and demolition of 19 properties impacted by Hurricane Helene. The acquired properties will be returned to green space and deed restricted to reduce the risk of future damage from flooding and landslides. This funding is authorized under Section 404 of the Robert T. Stafford Act.

$180,000 will go to Mecklenburg County to support management costs associated with the acquisition and demolition of 19 properties impacted by Hurricane Helene. This funding is authorized under Section 324 of the Robert T. Stafford Act.
