Congressman Tim Moore Leads North Carolina Delegation on Letter to Secretary Markwayne Mullin Urging Review of Pending Hurricane Helene Funds
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Congressman Tim Moore (NC-14) led a letter, signed by the North Carolina Congressional Delegation, to newly-confirmed Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Markwayne Mullin, urging the immediate review of all pending Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) funding for Hurricane Helene Recovery.
The lawmakers wrote, “We respectfully ask that you prioritize a comprehensive review of all unallocated FEMA funds designated for Hurricane Helene relief. Identifying and addressing any administrative or procedural bottlenecks will be essential to ensuring that obligated funds reach communities in North Carolina as quickly as possible.”
The letter also congratulates Secretary Mullin on his confirmation this week, and highlights President Trump’s early focus and ongoing work in the region.
“His visit following his inauguration, along with his willingness to call out the failures in FEMA's response to Hurricane Helene, sent a strong message to the communities impacted by the storm. We strongly support the President's continued commitment to our state and efforts to ensure FEMA operates more efficiently,” the letter states.
Signers of the letter include Reps. Chuck Edwards (NC-11), Virginia Foxx (NC-05), Mark Harris (NC-08), Pat Harrigan (NC-10), Richard Hudson (NC-09), Brad Knott (NC-13), Addison McDowell (NC-06), Gregory F. Murphy, M.D. (NC-03), and David Rouzer (NC-07).
