Congressman Tim Moore Announces $3.8 Million in FEMA Funding for Hurricane Helene Recovery Projects in Lake Lure, Chimney Rock, and Polk County

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, Congressman Tim Moore (NC-14) announced $3.8 million in federal funding from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for Hurricane Helene recovery across Lake Lure, Chimney Rock, and Polk County. Projects include critical sewer repairs, dam restoration, and public assistance.

“While it has been nearly two years since Hurricane Helene devastated our communities, significant recovery work remains,” said Congressman Moore. “This additional funding will help restore necessary infrastructure across Lake Lure, Chimney Rock, and Polk County. I appreciate President Trump, Secretary Mullin, and the folks at FEMA for continuing to prioritize Western North Carolina's recovery.”

$1,810,198.80 will go to the Town of Lake Lure for permanent repairs to the sewer collection system following severe damage from Hurricane Helene. This funding is authorized under Section 406 of the Robert T. Stafford Act.

$1,555,804.86 will go to the Town of Lake Lure for permanent repairs to the Lake Lure Dam following Hurricane Helene. The repairs include removing and replacing concrete stairs, chain link fence, dam barrel, traffic signs, crossing sign, and embankment restoration. This funding is authorized under Section 406 of the Robert T. Stafford Act.

$312,717.28 will go to Chimney Rock Village to support management of Public Assistance grants as a result of Hurricane Helene. This funding is authorized under Section 324 of the Robert T. Stafford Act.

$142,298.10 will go to Polk County to support the earthen retention dam and related repairs or replacements following the damage from Hurricane Helene. This funding is authorized under Section 406 of the Robert T. Stafford Act.
